Content of the Course

The course answers the question of how companies can act sustainably. To this end, in a first thematic area it elaborates the understanding of sustainability in politics and business and clarifies the relevance of sustainable action for companies in the face of insufficient resources. In the second topic area, theoretical impulses for corporate action are explained and concepts for resolving contradictions between economic, social and ecological concerns and for creating a balance between different interests are introduced. Finally, concrete instruments for the realization of sustainable resource management are presented.

Acquisition of Competences

You will develop an understanding of sustainability in relation to politics and business and know approaches for sustainable entrepreneurial action as well as an awareness of resource scarcity. Furthermore, you will know concepts for dealing with contradictions, e.g. between ecological, economic and social requirements and possess the ability to apply concrete instruments for the realization of sustainable resource management.
